Ruben van Hooidonk is a PhD student at Purdue University Climate Dynamics Prediction Lab where he studies the effects of climate change on coral reefs under the supervision of assistant professor Matthew Huber.

2002-2003:

Utrecht University. Research of the hyponastic response in Arabidopsis thaliana. Lab research methods: PCR, HPLC and gas chromatography, digital imaging, and computer assisted image analyzing techniques.

 

 

Employment

2002-2004: University of Utrecht, Student assistant, helping out with the students with their History and Philosophy of Biology class, tasks included correcting homework, managing discussions and group-meetings and teaching students how to present their ideas.

 

2003-2004:  University of Utrecht, Student assistant, assist students with Marine Ecology, this included lecturing students and teaching them various techniques in the laboratories of the Royal Dutch Institute for Oceanic Research (NIOZ).

 

2003-2004:  University of Utrecht, system administrator, assist pharmacy and biology students and teachers with the use of their computers and WebCT. I also managed the local network and printers. I fixed minor hardware problems, and I built a tool for the helpdesk to log their problems and solutions.

 

2004-2005: GlidePath, system operator, manage daily IT Operations of large companies (PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Randstad). Check health of server farms, monitor services, trouble shoot network/backup related problems.
